After he
took [the body) down from the cross, he wrapped it in linen. Then he
laid the body in a tomb cut in rock, a tomb in which no one had ever
been buried.

LUKE 23:53
|
- A man named
Joseph asked if he could take Jesus' body. Joseph believed Jesus was the
Son of God, but did not want to let many people know that. He was a rich
man and a member of the governing council. He was afraid of what the Jews
would do to him if they knew he believed. Pilate gave the body
to Joseph. He took it and wrapped it in a dean linen cloth. Then he buried
Jesus in a new tomb. A huge stone was rolled in front of the entrance. A
seal was put on the stone so they could tell if anyone tried to move it.
Guards stood in front of the stone. The
Jews wanted to be sure that no one tried to steal Jesus' body.
Why was
Joseph afraid to say he believed in Jesus?
- What was done
to be sure no one stole the body?
Dear God,
- That must have
been a very sad day for all of Jesus' followers. Thank you that Joseph
took Jesus and buried him.
- Amen
